Adam Shecter’s (b. 1976, Dallas, Texas) animations, performances and installations are influenced by contemporary cultural media sources including cinema, television cartoons, literature, and music. He works with hand-drawn animation, which he draws directly on a computer “tablet” instead of paper. These animations incorporate humor, bright colors, speed, and excitement.
SmartSpaces presented Adam Shecter’s Fox Signal: No More Suicides (2011) and BCAST: Clip Show (2011) in the Borderland exhibition in the windows of 420 Broome Street.
Shecter received his BA in Cultural Studies from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, and an MSE in Education from the Bank Street College, New York. He attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2006. The artist lives and works in New York City.
