SmartSpaces

SmartSpaces is a non-profit organization that reimagines vacant urban spaces as public venues for contemporary art.

Jessica Mein

Jessica Mein (b. 1975, São Paulo, Brazil) creates drawings, collages, books, and video animations in which coherence, efficiency, and ideas of linearity become interrupted by the faultiness of the handmade. Error, accident, and imperfection are all implicit in these processes, which reference the patina of time, precarious structures, as well as limitations inherent to the medium.

SmartSpaces featured Mein’s Cegueira (2007) and White Shadow (2008) in the open-player group exhibition of video artists in 2009 at 160 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
